Shippeo and La Poste Win Prestigious ELA Award for "Real-Time Visibility Control Tower" Project

7/10/2024

Paris, France – October 7, 2024 – Shippeo, a global leader in real-time transportation visibility, and La Poste France, are thrilled to announce that their joint project, "Real-Time Visibility Control Tower," has won the highly coveted European Logistics Project of the Year at the ELA Awards 2024 on October 3rd. The awards ceremony took place at the Bled Rose Hotel, in Slovenia following the Keep IT Simple 2024 conference, which focuses on automation and digitalization in logistics and production.

This prestigious recognition highlights the transformative impact of the Real-Time Visibility Control Tower, an innovative transport management solution developed by Viaposte, a subsidiary of La Poste France, that has revolutionized logistics operations at La Poste France. The project showcases not only cutting-edge technological advancements but also a significant leap forward in operational efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.

A Transformative Transport Control Tower

Viaposte’s Control Tower, developed in partnership with Shippeo for La Poste France, represents a pioneering approach to managing the complexities of nationwide logistics. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, the control tower handles:

  • 5,000 daily road links across France via a network of trusted carriers.
  • 22,000 transport orders managed daily in real-time.

This ambitious project has modernized Viaposte’s dispatching center, enabling La Poste France to:

  1. Leverage real-time data on road traffic, truck geolocation, and dynamic ETAs with a multi-screen projection system.
  2. Anticipate potential disruptions with proactive monitoring and hazard mitigation capabilities.
  3. Enhance operations with live ETA displays at logistics sites, allowing to adjust production schedules accordingly.
  4. Improve carrier performance, ensuring consistent and measurable delivery reliability.

Optimized Delivery During the 2024 Paris Olympics

The Real-Time Visibility Control Tower is a prime example of how digitalization and automation can elevate logistics operations to new heights. By harnessing Shippeo’s state-of-the-art real-time visibility data, La Poste has gained unprecedented control over its transport operations, significantly reducing delays while enhancing transparency and communication with customers. This project aligns with the key focus areas of the Keep IT Simple 2024 conference, showcasing the transformative role of digital solutions in logistics and supply chain management.

Earlier this year, the Control Tower project won the prestigious Rois de la Supply Chain Gold Medal, further cementing its status as an industry-leading solution. By integrating Shippeo’s technology, La Poste has improved the quality and timeliness of deliveries while reducing CO2 emissions through real-time monitoring.

During the 2024 Paris Olympic Games last summer, the Control Tower proved invaluable as traffic was disrupted or completely blocked around the thirteen Olympic venues. Motorized delivery vehicles were restricted from circulating within the perimeters of these sites before, during, and after the events. The Control Tower enabled La Poste to adapt transport schedules for distribution centers, favoring night-time deliveries, and facilitated deliveries by foot and cargo bikes in restricted zones. This advanced visibility infrastructure allowed La Poste to navigate logistical challenges effectively, ensuring that delivery and security requirements were met under optimum conditions.

Pierre Khoury, CEO of Shippeo, commented on the award win:
“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition from the ELA. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams at Shippeo and La Poste. The Real-Time Visibility Control Tower is a breakthrough project, and we’re proud to see it deliver tangible value to one of Europe’s most complex logistics networks.”
Christophe Baboin, Director-General of Viaposte’s Transport Management and Director of Transport and Delivery in the Mail, Parcel and Services Division at La Poste, shared his thoughts:
“This project marks a significant milestone in La Poste’s journey toward digitalization and sustainability. The ability to proactively manage our nationwide transport operations has not only optimized performance but also improved customer satisfaction. We look forward to further enhancing our capabilities in partnership with Shippeo.”
