Shippeo’s continued Magic Quadrant recognition

We believe that the Gartner Magic Quadrant report has become one of the go-to resources for business leaders all over the world when evaluating potential vendors. This year, Gartner has published its third Magic Quadrant™ for Real-time Transportation Visibility Platforms (RTTVP) as, per our understanding, the importance of our rapidly growing sector to the supply chain IT landscape has become more widely recognized.

I’m pleased to see many of Shippeo’s recognitions over the past 12 months reflected, we believe, in our positioning in this year’s Magic Quadrant. Shippeo has received a 95% willingness to recommend rating on Gartner Peer Insights™ and scored an overall rating of 4.8/5* based on 214 ratings as of 22 May 2023. To us, these are highly important metrics, and reassure us that we’re providing our customers with better value, and delivering what we promise.

We believe this high customer satisfaction was helped by the tremendous progress we made across all aspects of our business, including:

  • Onboarding 94% of all carriers within 30 days (71% were within just a week)
  • Reaching average tracking rates above 80% thanks to better quality integrations, our AI-powered analysis tool for analyzing root causes of low tracking rates (the Smart Tracking Analyzer), and other initiatives taking advantage of our AI and ML capabilities
  • Delivering our Spring Platform release, which included a raft of new features across our Ocean and Road visibility solutions, such as our new Shippeo Ocean shipment ETA, which outperforms those received from ocean carriers by 35% on average
  • Welcoming some of the most iconic brands in the world, including Amazon, Barilla (US), Epson, Geodis, Jacob Douwe Egberts (JDE), Jaguar Land Rover, Lassonde, L'Oréal, Moët Hennessy (LVMH), SABIC International (the second largest public company in the Middle East) and Siemens Energy
  • Announcing a record $50m funding round, with all existing investors taking part, including Battery Ventures, Partech, NGP Capital, ETF Partners, Bpifrance Digital Venture and Notable new strategic investors include Hong Kong-based LFX Venture Partners and Japan-based Yamaha Motor Ventures, whose investment is helping to ramp up operations across Asia-Pacific, as well as Orlen VC, based in Poland, and Shift4good, a global VC fund dedicated to impact investing in smart mobility and circular economy businesses.
  • Expanding our global partnerships with e2open, to deliver native real-time in-transit visibility within their comprehensive global supply chain management platform
  • Growing our team to more than 230 Shippians (and counting), including senior executive and SaaS veteran Philippe Vanhove as new Chief Revenue Officer, who brings 25 years of experience in scaling fast-growing, international SaaS organizations, managing multi-country sales operations, marketing, lead generation, human resources, and finance

Creating value for customers with our values-led approach

We know the importance companies place on partnering with companies with strong, similar values, in addition to strong financial performance. Our values, and how they’re embodied and demonstrated each and every day, is also critically important for earning our customers’ trust. Shippeo is a strongly value-based company, and this is reflected in our:

  • Strong customer focus, where customer satisfaction takes priority over financial drivers and investor interests
  • Straightforward and transparent approach to conducting business, based on trust, collaboration and genuine partnerships
  • Internal values (ambition, care, deliver and collaboration) and culture, and the people we recruit

Being the provider of choice for carriers, as well as shippers

At Shippeo, we firmly believe that the supply chain ecosystems of the future will exist within, and rely heavily on, a ‘network of networks’. That neutrality is a key enabler of fluid and functional networks and ecosystems, which ultimately delivers the best outcomes for customers. This was the basis of our decision to enable our platform to integrate openly with other visibility platforms. It’s an important component of our go-to-market strategy, and differentiator, given some RTTV providers contractually prevent their customers from integrating with other visibility solutions.

We’ve also made a point of ensuring neutrality for our carrier partners. We think this is incredibly important, as we’re seeing more and more integration of freight-matching services into RTTVPs, and carriers tell us that they are becoming more and more concerned by this. Freight forwarder customers will find themselves competing with their own supplier.

We have committed to not developing any freight matching style solutions and we remain strongly opposed to this. Such capabilities would undermine the neutrality we offer carriers, which can in turn create distrust and an unwillingness to cooperate. The carrier community plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation visibility and without their involvement, support and trust, new possibilities for supply chain ecosystem collaboration and ‘convergence’ will be held back.

Shippeo also doesn’t charge carriers to use our platform, which is not always the case with other providers. We encourage carrier openness and willingness to work with us by creating respectful, mutually beneficial relationships. This is epitomized by our Voice of Carrier program, which hundreds of carriers participate in. These carriers take part in two business and quality review sessions per year. The program includes a series of feedback sessions for all carrier-related platform enhancements, feature development and roadmap discussions.

We also recently launched our Carrier Recognition Program, celebrating over 400 of the world’s most exceptional carriers, who provide the best service to shippers with consistently high levels of shipment tracking, and held our inaugural Visibility Star Awards last November, which recognize the efforts our carrier community has made to provide great service to their clients, and celebrate their exceptional commitment to real time visibility.

A strong roadmap ahead

Shippeo is about to celebrate its 9th anniversary - almost a decade of pioneering RTTV in Europe and now the world. With our continued expansion into North America and APAC, we’re really pleased with our trajectory for product innovation and organic market growth. We think we can bring a lot of value to each new market we enter and the US and APAC are no exceptions. We know there is a huge opportunity to improve customer experience and product quality in this market, and are looking forward to bringing much value here too.
