Today we’re thrilled to reveal our Spring ‘23 platform release, bringing a raft of new features and enhancements to our Road and Ocean Visibility solutions, including better ETA accuracy, as well as new data quality and usability enhancements.

We’re also excited to announce that we’re making our game-changing Carbon Visibility module available in general availability to a much wider audience.

Underpinning all of these new developments is our steadfast commitment to category-leading data quality. Continuing to invest heavily in R&D, our teams are making significant advancements in this space. Our customers demand this and what’s really pleasing to see is that it has become the number one reason they stay with us.

From a strategic standpoint, exceptional data quality is also fundamental to enabling our bold platform vision to unlock the next generation of automation capabilities in transportation processes.

Along with data quality, a lot of work has also been done over the past 12 months to enhance platform stability and scalability for our rapidly growing customer base, while continuing to evolve our platform’s highly regarded ease of use and reliable performance.

I want to thank our world-class product and tech teams for the exceptional work they do every day bringing more and more features and value to our platform users.

Along with the features we are announcing today, we’re also progressing some really beautiful enhancements to our user interface to improve the user experience. We have one of the best designed platforms, offering users a really great experience. However, we are not resting on our laurels, and users will notice this evolution throughout the year. We will have more to say on this in Autumn, along with some other very exciting new developments!

We look forward to your continued delight with our Spring ‘23 release!

NEW OCEAN VISIBILITY FEATURES

Understanding what’s going on for the ocean leg of a shipment’s journey is most important for intercontinental shipping. For this reason, enhancements to our Ocean Visibility solution have been a major focus in our latest Spring release. We are excited to introduce a number of new features today that our users and customers will love.

  • New Shippeo ETAs, with increased accuracy, are now available to Shippeo users in addition to ETAs provided by ocean carriers. Users can access more details by simply hovering over an ETA with their mouse.
  • Vessel AIS-based milestone detection using our Port Visibility Engine at all ports (i.e. port of loading, transshipment port, and port of discharge) for improved milestone accuracy and completeness
  • Less minimum data required for tracking to make it easier to start tracking a container. The minimum information required by our API has reduced.
  • Transport orders created automatically [Beta] when a shipper is listed on the Master Bill of Lading and Shippeo detects shipments booked from ocean carrier data feeds
  • Delay detection is now more powerful, and can be calculated by comparing the latest ETA with the planned date if shared by the customer or the first ocean carrier ETA received.
  • Container delay filters help hone in on problematic shipments and manage exceptions more efficiently
  • Filter historical positions by vessel to view shipment tracking information related to a specific vessel
  • View multiple Bills of Lading attached to a container by hovering the mouse over them
  • View relevant SCAC codes by hovering the mouse over an ocean carrier’s name
  • Share a public tracking link to anyone for an ocean shipment, either via the Shippeo platform or via our API (“Events-out”)
  • Attach documents to a container, such as master bills of lading, purchase orders or sales orders.
  • Configure and send new notification types to both internal users and external parties by SMS or email, when containers reach specific milestones, are late by ‘X’ days, or a container’s ETA changes by a certain number of days.

ENHANCEMENTS TO ROAD TRACKING

Our road visibility product is relied on by customers in over 110 countries around the world and we have doubled down on data quality, performance and usability in our latest release.

  • Improved geofencing through GPS signal smoothing, which eliminates GPS data outliers to prevent inaccurate actuals polluting ETAs and insights (coming soon)
  • Several mobile app bugs have been resolved. Users can now also check which version of the app drivers are using from the Admin page.
  • Access your handling unit-level pictures and comments shared by drivers directly in the ‘Order details’ cargo tab
  • Useful contextual information from carriers, such as the type of goods, can now be sent from their TMS and added to transport orders using collaborative tags.

GENERAL AVAILABILITY OF OUR CARBON VISIBILITY MODULE

After a successful launch with trial customers in 2022, Carbon Visibility is now out of beta and available to all.

Accurate & accredited, without the effort

Carbon Visibility combines Shippeo’s advanced visibility data capabilities with cutting edge data modeling from industry expert Searoutes, to provide extremely accurate transport and distribution GHG (CO2e) emissions reporting.

  • Access emissions calculations for all transport modes in one convenient portal without the administration of performing manual calculations or consolidating reports collected from multiple carriers
  • Gain a more complete view of emissions thanks to GLEC-approved default values filling gaps in the dataset when needed
  • Calculate more accurate CO2e emissions that avoid overestimations of CO2e emissions commonly caused by using ‘default’ (theoretical) data
  • View, analyze and compare emissions levels between carriers, countries, modes, and more, in dashboards to find the causes of, and solutions to, high emissions
  • Drill down to view emissions by leg, carrier, mode or geography and inform action plans, and export data as CSV to use in reporting

Preparing for the EU’s upcoming carbon reporting legislation

From 2024, around 50,000 companies operating within the EU (including subsidiaries of non-EU companies) will need to comply with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This new regulation aims to increase corporate transparency and accountability on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters. Reporting of emissions relating to transport and logistics will become compulsory, so now is the time for organizations to act and get ready.

Discover more about preparing for CSRD or Shippeo’s approach to CO2e emissions calculations in our new white paper or see a demo.
